Happy ("Happy"?) Daytime Emmys Day!

We've been anticipating this year's Daytime Emmys with equal parts excitement (FASHION! And the chance that a legitimate winner or two will actually waltz away with a prize! And...Ronn Moss and his undoubtedly excellent formalwear!) and dread (remember last year's show? Of course you don't, either because you were smart enough to skip it or you totally repressed). Maybe the parts aren't so equal. ANYWAY! Tonight is the night: the 38th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards air tonight at 8 PM on CBS. Wayne Brady is the host, and Pat Sajak and Alex Trebek (who--can we be blunt?--is a tool. Our eyes are already rolling at what we just know will be a smug, douchey acceptance speech. Suck it in advance, Trebek) will be receiving Lifetime Achievement Awards. Also, some ill-deserving soaps are up for awards, though we're sure the show's focus will be on the other, talky side of daytime.

Join us here for the Serial Drama Daytime Emmys Live Blogging Extravaganza just before 8! Mallory, Louise and special guest Becca will be giving you the (we're sure) painful blow-by-blow of the show: all the hot people in fancy clothes, all the musical numbers, all the ham-fisted advertisements for exotic locales, all the bad memories the show will dredge up of 2010 in soaps. Phrasing it like that doesn't exactly make it seem like a fun way to spend the night, does it? This is why we're not in advertising...
