The very awesome Heather and Jessica of Go Fug Yourself and related fame mentioned us as #5 on their list of favorite time-wasting websites in the December issue of Marie Claire! How cool is that? We're so incredibly appreciative of the shout-out and their support for Serial Drama. If you have a chance to pick up the December issue (with Blake Lively's boobs on the cover), check out the mention and the rest of the Fug Girls' list on page 98.
Daytime Confidential's Jamey Giddens interviews The Young and the Restless star Wilson Bethel. They talk about his role as Ryder, working with Sean Kanan and Greg Rikaart and Generation Kill. (Daytime Confidential)
Kimberly McCullough and Jason Thompson's General Hospital Scrubs Team raised $44,878.10 and walked for AIDS Walk LA last weekend, and are currently in top positions individually and as a team. Check out the great pictures from the event! (Scrubs Hub)
Elizabeth Webber's polka dot cardigan has been the sole highlight of GH this week, which has led the Serial Drama girls to wonder if the show should change its name to "Stupid people doing terrible things in an uninteresting fashion." (Serial Drama)
The extended dragged out "Stu-Murder" mystery is driving me up a wall. On top of all of this, the totally irritating promo ABC continues to run about the real murderer being revealed has been way over done and frankly, it's turning my hair gray. (Soap Opera Examiner)
Great weekend for Wubs! AIDS Walk LA, scoops, tweets and news are all up in the Sunday surgery. (Wubs)
ABC soaps had a crazy casting week last week. Tune in to hear Luke, Jamey, Regan and Belinda discuss all the comings and goings, including: James Franco, Jonathan Jackson, Beth Ehlers, Thorsten Kaye, Susan Lucci and Greg Vaughan. (Daytime Confidential)
There's plenty about All My Children to be negative about. But there are also positives too. In an effort to accentuate those positives, I propose my own Top Ten Reasons Why I Love AMC. Share the love and tell us what your Top Ten Reasons are! (Pine Valley Bulletin)
The Serial Drama girls have decided that General Hospital is really good at something: being inconsistent. The last two Mondays' episodes couldn't have been more different in terms of quality (and amount of karaoke). (Serial Drama)
There is something to be said for older characters on the who bring so much wisdom to various storylines on the soaps. As the World Turns does this well and nowhere was it more evident today when Lucinda and Emma tried to reach their daughters regarding their love lives. (Soap Opera Examiner)
On this week's We Love Soaps podcast, Suzanne Rogers talks about how she landed the role of Maggie on DAYS and why her character has come back into prominence this year. (We Love Soaps)
Woo-wee! Could we have a more wild week in soap news? The Wubqueen dishes it all plus Carolyn Hennesy news, and Team ScrubsWubs LA Aids walk info. (Wubs)
Somehow we both managed to forget our three-year blogiversary last week. Obviously, as would be the case in a traditional relationship, this has caused us to reexamine our connection and enter counseling. While we work through our myriad issues and contemplate whether this whole co-blogging thing is really right for us, or whether instead our twins and sextuplets would be better off with us on separate blogs, we invite you to peruse the most popular entries of our third year, based on your comments and visits. We ask for privacy during this difficult time. (Except for the regular interviews we will provide about our progress, the personal diaries we will post as blog entries, and the reality show that a crappy cable network -- or the CW! -- will be picking up momentarily. Other than that, like we said, PRIVATE.)
We wrapped up the second season of Night Shift on a highnote and vowed to write Sri Rao love notes until the end of time or until he becomes head writer on another soap (and given the decision-making skills of most soap showrunners, the former may come before the latter).
We lamented the sad state of General Hospital repeatedly, loudly, bitchily, and hopefully -- on occasion -- somewhat amusingly. We were reduced to examining it by the numbers, as an instructive lesson in how to be terrible, and were sometimes just left with our lists. The only solidly good constant throughout our third year, upon closer review, appears to be babyEmma. Love you, boo. Try to stay out of snow-covered trees this next year, 'kay?
We reviewed 2008 and struggled for entries on the “best” side of the list.
We relived some of General Hospital’s goldenyears, which then made us even more bitter about the shitpile the show has become.
We wondered how Charles Prattremains employed, but then we remembered that Bob Guza does too, at the same network, and it made more sense. Well…”sense.”
We wondered who they’re trying to kid with the whole “she’s Liza!” thing.
We watched some new-to-us shows (and Mallory jinxed Guiding Light and got it canceled).
We watched Y&R actually get good and therefore difficult to mock, but then rejoiced with the whole Colleen’s murder thing that allowed the bitching to perk up.
We watch Gossip Girl so were luckily able to track down the Daytime Emmys on the tiny lil’ CW and say a few things about the whole shebang. (“Shebang” is actually far too generous, but soaps are supposed to be overdramatic so we’re trying to stick with a theme.)
And finally, we have no link for this one, but we continued to be completed flattered, baffled, and delighted by the fact that you read and comment on our blog, and looked forward to three more years and beyond!
When the editor at Blogs.com approached us about naming our favorite TV blogs for the site's "Top 10 Blogs" series, our corresponding 10 reactions were, in order: 1) that sounds fun, 2) why the hell would anyone care what we think is good, when we watch bad TV for our side job?, 3) do we even know how to recognize good things related to TV anymore?, 4) this still sounds fun, 5) wow, for two hypercritical bitches we read and like an awful lot of blogs, 6) yikes, we watch too much TV, 7) when did Katherine Heigl become so damned unlikeable and is it at all related to when Grey's Anatomy started circling the drain? (okay, this was not entirely related, but it was definitely a thought), 8) are the bloggers we list going to think we're crazy stalkers, and if so would that be kind of awesome?, 9) thank goodness we don't have any disagreements between us about what rocks and what sucks, and 10) this really was fun!
You can check out our Top 10 TV Blogs here. Feel free to leave your additions in the comments here, and we encourage you to check out the blogs that made the list. They really are our favorites; no money or sexual favors were exchanged for making the list. Well, not much money, and no especially scandalous sexual favors, anyway.
The 36th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards have come and gone, and were a blend of bizarre, awkward, and terrible, with a few fleeting glimpses of quality. We found ourselves this year in the unfamiliar position of being familiar with nearly all of the winners. Thoughts? Yes, we have some.
Outstanding Supporting Actor: TIE! Vincent Irizarry (David, AMC) and Jeff Branson (Shayne, GL)
What's with the Daytime Emmys and their ties? It seems wrong! We're not sure what the most viable tiebreaker option would be (Our minds always go to dance-offs, but that seems impractical and doesn't, strictly speaking, have anything to do with soaps. Then again, most of this inane broadcast had nothing to do with soaps, either, so it's perhaps more plausible than we originally thought.), but we shouldn't complain too much, since two very good actors were rewarded for their performances this year. Jeff Branson's reel was Mallory's favorite, and Vincent Irizarry's win led to his adorable speech...
(Fun fact: Jeff Branson was the overwhelming pick by Serial Drama voters for who should win the Emmy and was the only one of your picks to actually do so.)
We're equally surprised and happy that Tamara Braun won this year, because she was simply so much FUN as Ava, and her shock upon winning was adorable. Plus, she looked gorge.
Okay, so according to most of you Bree Williamson probably should have won (we'd ask Louise for comment, but she's currently in the fetal position, weeping), but we can't deny the entertaining power of Braun's reel, plus, we like to think of this award as a big "We're so sorry that you were saddled with the worst character in the worst soap storyline in the history of the world" statement.

Subject: Oh...my god
Oh...my god.
When a show inspires that reaction in its first six minutes, you can be sure that it's going to be a rough two hours. We survived, barely, and decided to give back to the Emmys, if you will, by giving out our own dubious awards to the 36th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. It's the least one can do. Well, no, the least one could do is what the people in charge of the ceremony's production last night did, but this is the least we personally can do.
We have already bestowed our Best and Worst awards on last night's fashion choices. In case you missed them: our Best Dressed and Worst Dressed lists.
MOST CREATIVE USE OF THE WORD "INFORMATIVE" Tyra Banks winning "Outstanding Informative Talk Show"
She informs people about what, exactly? How to wear fake hair? How to make everything about you? How to shriek for no real reason? We can't help but feel like being in this category and deemed informative is going to make her smugger than ever.
"Yeah, that's right, I educate people. I teach people, I mold young minds, I am an inspiration!"
MOST UNCOMFORTABLE THREE MINUTES OF THE TELECAST The Fashion Show
First of all, it started with Tyra's introduction, informing us that "Daytime has always been on the cutting edge of fashion." Which proved yet again that Tyra can't stop lying. But then, it got worse! Watching random pairs of cast members from each of the soaps preen, vamp and shake their groove thangs for a fake photographer was...
...well, it ended, is the good news.
MOST DISTURBING SEGUE TO SHOWCASING THE GOOD DEEDS OF A CHARITY Susan Lucci Stalks From The Fashion Show To A Speech About Feed The Children
La Lucci weirdly pranced and catwalked her way over from the above fashion show right to the microphone, where she launched into a solemn tale about the importance of the Feed The Children charity.
The clip package that followed, showcasing her trip with Tony Geary and Kelly Monaco, to Africa for the charity was amazing and emotional, but, really, they couldn't have put a commercial break in between the cheesy "fashion show" and the legitimate charity? Well, we guess that they actually literally couldn't, since they quite nearly ran out of time as it is, but still!
Mallory: I'm crying. Becca: I am ashamed to have been totally moved by something these manipulative producers specifically designed to move me, but come on, I have a functioning heart. I totally teared up when Tony Geary and Kelly Monaco did! Mallory: I think my heart just broke into a million pieces at the sight of those children. Especially when they were in their little uniforms!
MOST HILARIOUS HEIGHT DIFFERENCE James Scott and Jay Kenneth Johnson
Yes, it's time for the big show itself! Let's see if the real Emmy voters have any overlap with the Serial Drama faux Emmy voters, who think that the following people deserve to go home with an award tonight:
Outstanding Younger Actor: Blake Berris
Outstanding Younger Actress: Kirsten Storms
Outstanding Supporting Actor: Jeff Branson
Outstanding Supporting Actress: Alicia Minshew
Outstanding Lead Actor: Peter Reckell
Outstanding Lead Actress: Debbi Morgan
You all have obviously been burned before, because the only time you thought the most deserving actor would actually wind up winning was in the case of Kirsten Storms!
Come on in and join us for a blow-by-blow discussion of daytime's biggest night (related: who here misses the Soap Opera Digest Awards?), hosted by Vanessa L. Williams and featuring the presentation of a Lifetime Achievement Award to Sesame Street, which thrills us both so much that we have nary a snarky comment to make. We'll be updating the list of winners, after the jump!
Join us in the comments for all of your "I love that dress!", "What the HELL is he/she wearing?", "I don't know who that person is..." and "Ronn Moss's formal mullet looks divine!" observations!

We have everything you need to know about Kimberly McCullough and Jason Thompson's AIDS Walk fundraising campaign - including how to win an autographed script, clothes off their back, and set tour for four. (Scrubs Hub)
All My Children this week has taught the Serial Drama girls that Baby Trevor is far wiser than any of his parental figures, and that Tad Martin may, in fact, be the biggest Zach/Kendall 'shipper of them all. (Serial Drama)
The Young and the Restless has been a favorite soap of Mary Montanari for a very long time, but as of late, more often than not, she finds herself fast forwarding through several convoluted plots. Please Y&R, give us a break and end some of these brutally boring storylines. (Soap Opera Examiner)
