Congratulations to all the nominees, especially the handful of first-timers!

We'll get to all the design/tech nominations at a later date. And why don't we just skip the Outstanding Drama Series nominations, since they are now a unanimous participation award.

Anyone especially excited/outraged/confused about anything? Or has all of this just gotten too anti-climactic for us now?

Comments

Anti-climactic for sure and has been for years, but I'm overjoyed that Mo Benard isn't nominated again! The man can't act. Period.

Of course Tony Geary hammed it up to such a degree that he's unwatchable so I'm sure he will win. I could have been a fly on the wall for that conversation between Frank V, Ron C and Tony. "Oh you want to leave the role? How about you watch these clips of the fabulous Erika Slezak as Vicki/Nikki/Jean etc. Doesn't that look fun?! We have some ideas, not really sure how it will end since we plan on changing our minds every month, but we can let you go to town chewing up everything in your wake on the way to another Emmy win!"

Kristen Alderson? Hunter King? Bryan Craig? Max Ehrich? There really are NO young actors worth a damn any more, are there?

Hakey Poulos is talented but doesn't have the work to warrant a nomination. Yeah, but there are no young actors worth a damn. Save Camyrn Grimes. Disappointed not to see her nominated.

Tony Geary and Christian LeBlanc gave two of the worst performances I have ever seen in 30 years of soap opera viewing. They are THE. WORST.

I actually like Maurice Benard [ducking.]

Go Alison Sweeney!

Is Hunter King the one who sounds like she has laryngitis on Y&R?

^^ Sadly, yes.

Wow.

It seems rather pointless to have best writing, best show when there are so few shows left they all get nominated, you know?

Yep, all 4 soaps got nominated for Best Show, Best Directing, Best Writing....

But the academy was not impressed with B&B's casting!

Basically the New Approaches category is the only truly competitive one. And it's kind of cool that there (and for Guest Actor) it's not divided by gender.

Maybe I should cover East Los High next season. I do love it....

Soapbaby, you are SO right! I like Haley but she hasn't even really been on the show in the last year.

Camryn Grimes is AWESOME! Why in the world wasn't she nominated? She really is the only youngish actor who has any talent. Hunter King is a joke.

Christen LeBlanc is usually top notch, but he's really lost it with this cancer story. "I might not be able to have sex!" I hope he wasn't nominated because of the Carmine mess because he was terrible in that story line as well.

Camryn Grimes is the biggest snub/shocker. I'm also disappointed that Blake Berris didn't get nominated for Days. I wonder if he/his team just don't know how to put together a reel because this is the 2nd year in a row that people expected him to be nommed and he wasn't.

I'm thrilled for Camila Banus who did excellent work in her confession scenes. I'm guessing that Hayley's reel is the scenes when she read the letter from Ric?

I'm rooting for Maura West to win best actress but I'll be happy for Alison Sweeney and her fans if she wins. Watch out for Pegg McKay who submitted the her speech at the WilSon wedding. I can see people being touched by it enough to vote for her.

In a top-notch field for Outstanding Actress, I'd vote for Maura West because she really carried General Hospital in 2014. But I could see any of them winning.

Thrilled to see Finola nominated but it speaks volumes about her under-use on GH that she felt Supporting Actress was the appropriate place for her.

I'd love to see Billy Miller win Outstanding Actor purely to spite JFP (yes, I know: I'm awful; in a case like this, I embrace it!). Getting past that (OK, OK, I can and do TRY to rise above my baser instincts, even if my baser instincts are a lot more fun), isn't it time for Jason Thompson to take the statue home?

(OMG, I just realized: No Roger Howarth?!! How will his legions of rabid fans survive that?)

I'm glad Heather Thom and Thorsten Kaye didn't get nominated. IMO, they suck.

I actually think Heather Thom is a tremendous soap actress, but she's had more than her fair share of recent wins/nominations. Time for a long break. (Also, I haven't been watching consistently but her material this past year doesn't seem to have been that award-warranted anyway)

Maura West didn't carry 2014 alone. I think Her and Chad Duell both carried 2014.

I love that TG's interview confirmed that the Fluke story was changed up midstream because Ron and Frank were stunned that viewers figured out that he was supposed to be Bill Eckert. "Omg! Omg! Our viewers are too stupid to put it together, but "Luke" is actually his identical cousin who was already on the show played by TG for like 5 years! What an amazing twist! No one will ever guess--omg! How did they know?????"

I'm disgusted that KKL (Brooke) didn't get a nom. IMO, she's a damn good actress with the right material.

Plus I don't like the character of Katie and think she adds nothing to the show.
