General Hospital: Nurses Ball, Day 2!

I don't actually know if it's the second day of the ball, but I feel like I heard it started on Friday so I decided to watch today. Here goes!

We open with Brad proposing to Lucas. Why is Lucas the one on his knee if he's not the one proposing? Also, this is the first time I've seen this incarnation of Lucas. He reminds me a little of Joey Lawrence, and he says yes!

Brad is rillll happy

Think of it, a public engagement....

Everyone claps and films it with their smartphones and it's pretty cute.

Carly is talking to Jakeson, and I think Laura Wright has a cold because there's definitely an adenoid situation going on here. He's been lied to by... Ric and his non-wife? I think Ric and Hayden (that's Rebecca Budig's character, right?) conspired to make Jake think he was married to her. To... keep her away from Elizabeth, I'm guessing? Anyway, then Nik tells Liz that Jake is Jason. Liz is not hearing it, and accuses Nik of doing this because he still has feelings for her. He says he does. "Always have, always will." Say what now? Okay, Show. Also, why would this be a deterrent for Liz to want Jake?

"I had to be loud, in public," Carly says in the understatement of the century.

Julian makes some sort of mob joke regarding his bio-son's engagement and how he can now expand the "Wu territories." What? Firstly, Brad is related to mob people? Secondly, everyone's just so openly mobbed up now that it's hilarious party banter at an AIDS benefit?

Something happens with children.

Lucy looks crazy hot in a red dress --

Hot red dressw

-- introducing Magic Milo and Company, doing their annual strip tease. They're dancing to INXS's "New Sensation," so basically we have to respect that. Did anyone see the KAJILLION-part mini-series about INXS they made.... last year, I want to say? It was better than expected, and damn was the dude playing Michael Hutchence spot-on. And therefore so hot and charismatic that it actually hurt.

TJ is in the strip tease?? I guess he's an adult now? It's been a while. This makes me uncomfortable. Wait, Ellie's there?? I love Ellie! When did Ellie return? Also, does Milo no longer work for the mob? One thing that always cracked me up about the Nurses Ball was how for entertainment's sake, they'd always match up performers who had major conflict in the regular stories, and I'd get a little caught up picturing these arch enemies having to get together to rehearse some silly talent show piece when typically one of them had basically murdered some loved one of the other. Or something? Like, did Catherine Bell and Lucy Coe really meet up with each other all the time to rehearse their act? Anyway, the dudes are being all hot, and there's some business going on between Ellie and Nathan that Maxie looks highly displeased about, which I'm guessing was its purpose.

Wait a minute. Are Epiphany and Milo actually happening? Like for real? I swear I said years ago that they should do this. But did they really do this???

Dante is talking to some pretty lady and I have no idea who she is.

Carly is apologizing to Jake and while Billy Miller is slightly more animated than that last guy playing Jason was, they still have the friendship down, where Carly pretty much runs roughshod over him and orders him to be friends with her and never stay mad.

Liz seems to be accepting the whole Jason thing. And she still pronounces it "JAY-SEN." Also there is something else happening with the children. I do not accept this. I guess this is meant to be cute in its precociousness, but it seems pretty creepy to me.

Next up performing: oh, there's Sabrina, lip-syncing. Maxie and Ellie are also in this. Remember when Ellie and Spinelli did that adorable "She Blinded Me With Science" thing a couple years back? Oh and Sam and Lulu and some other lady are also in this. There are poodle skirts and vacuum cleaners, and it's some sort of song about how men have to act like women aren't crazy to get the lovin' even though women are obvs really crazy. Or something. Is this a well-known song? Basically it's a feminist rally, you guys. In the words of the great Kelly Taylor. They get a standing ovation.

Next up, Emma is doing a dance with... Cameron? Is this the current Cameron? They're doing a tango. And Anna and Duke keep giving each other significant looks and I CANNOT ACCEPT THIS, I CANNOT. Because you know, the tango. And Anna and Duke. This is just playing dirty! So... some sandbags drop from the rafters. Oh. It was Spencer, the "Phantom of the Nurses Ball." Is this... part of the act? Can it please be part of the act? I'm very stressed out.

Liz is reading Nikolas the riot act for keeping this secret. But then she assumes that Helena must have threatened him into keeping the secret. He tells her he's been planning an ELQ takeover, which is why he stayed quiet. And she slaps him.

I really want to enjoy this shtick with the children, but it's way too precious. Oh I see, Spencer has a scar on his face now? Aunt Lulu finally shuts him down. Duke watches this all from behind the curtain and Lucy insists he should go and fight for Anna. I don't know if I can watch this.

Okay. So Carly doesn't think Jake should rush into a relationship with Elizabeth, because of course she doesn't. And Nik declares that he's taking back his power, and he's not really doing anything wrong because Sam's in love with Patrick now, which is healthier. And it is. Healthier. But. Come. On. Anyhoo, Nik claims he's telling Liz this news now to prevent her heartache.

While changing, Lucy continues to try to convince Duke to declare his love for Anna, but of course the curtain comes up on Lucy in her skivvies.

Lucy in her undies

Check!

Does Carly know about Jake? She seems way too fixated on him for her to have met him so recently.

Honestly, what right does Elizabeth have to look that good in pink? WHAT RIGHT?

Yes I wish I could get a better shot

I ask you, Rebecca Herbst!

Lucy makes Duke do the tango with Anna. I'm having a lot of feelings and I don't care for it one bit. NOT ONE BIT.

While Finola Hughes is a far better actress than she was back in her Stayin' Alive days, she's not quite the dancer she was. Just kidding, she is perfect in every way. Every single way. Oh and crap, they're showing clips of them together doing the tango back in the 80s. I don't have a very good feeling about this.

The old days

Not a good sign

Wow. I thought I wouldn't feel much watching today because I'm so disconnected emotionally by barely ever watching, but they got me. Those jerks got me.

Lulu and Dante and and whoever that other lady is provide some counseling for Spencer. They leave him alone for a moment and there is a woman's hand on his back and he turns around.

Another thing i do not accept

OH HELL NO.

OH. HELL. NO.

I much prefer this actress in the job she had after her stint as Courtney. That stint being "My Lover Cindy," doing a bunch of lesbian oil wrestling. (What I'm saying is: I liked her when Courtney was GONE.)

In other words, OH. HELL. NO.

I've never seen Patrick and Sam together before, and they're pretty cute. Anyway, Patrick and Emma do a little duet on the guitar. There's a bunch of video of Young Emma (but really just Young Brooklyn). I heard Jason Thompson wrote this, and it's very sweet. Lucy looks like she can barely contain herself. Liz comes in, intending to tell everyone the truth, but notices how lovingly Sam looks at Patrick so since I've seen soaps before, I'm assuming Liz will keep the secret for a long, long time.

Anna is crying. No, YOU'RE crying, shut up!

Liz runs up on the stage and grabs the mic, but please.

The end!

WHAT FRESH HELL IS THAT LAST PICTURE?!

Nothing makes that okay. Nothing ever.

Brad's grandfather was in the Wu Mob. This was discussed briefly in the "Look what we have in common!" way between Brad and Lucas.

Everyone is in the mob, or loves the mob, or generally accepts that the mob is a-okay!

T.J. is in college.. so yeah. Adult.

Maxie chose Spin over Nathan. Bleh. Ellie came back just to win back Spin..but Maxie happened again so she and Nathan are just going to the ball to maybe make Maxie and Spin jealous.

Spencer was burned in a fire during his birthday party and they had a whole tie in with Shriners Hospital. It was pretty compelling until Spencer returned to being his bratty self with Nic doing nothing to get him straightened out.

Duke loves Anna. Anna loves Duke. Duke refuses to be disloyal to Sonny (choke) and he is off the show.. soon to die. (sob)

Pip and Milo happening totally offscreen and never seen until today.

Pretty lady with Dante/Lulu is Lulu's cousin Valerie. Luke and Bobbie's older sister Patricia made a brief stop over and then died leaving Valeria living with Lulu/Dante, hugging on Dante and so Lulu has moved her in with NIC! haha!

OH. HELL. TO. THE. NO.

That's all I have to say.

Ryan Carnes (the guy that's currently playing Lucas Jones now) used to play Lucas from 2004-2005 before he was recast with Ben Hogestyn from 2005-2006!

Oh wow, that IS Ryan Carnes! I didn't even recognize him, that's awesome. Thanks for the info, Chris!

I like them and the proposal was cute, but it's way, way too soon for Brad and Lucas to be getting married. They're barely on as it is.

...however, if Lucas' med school friend Lyle and Ellie's cop cousin Trout come to the ceremony, well...

There are rumors that Lucas and Brad are getting married during the live shows. I guess Ron really wants to beat Days at the GLAAD awards? (though I bet B&B takes it this coming year)

Ooh! That would be fun if the wedding was on a live show.

(If B&B gets it without improving that story ten-fold, I am going to write a sternly-worded letter to GLAAD. :) )

Spencer needs a major butt whipping. I don't say that lightly. It takes some majorly bad behavior for me to ever think about giving a kid a good smack on the tush. That brat could've seriously injured or killed someone with his antics. The burns he got at his party, should be a hard painful lessin. He risked his life for a stupid robe that Sonny gave him. A ROBE!

Skipper Bitch? Back for any reason? NO. NO, NO, NO, NO! NOT FOR ANY REASON!

Lucas and Brad marrying? Why not? They've been dating for what, 6 months? No reason to be worried there, right?

Yup. Ellie and Nathan are going out to make Spinelli and Maxie jealous. Thanks to Lucy Coe giving them the idea and push.

The only good thing about Mobster!Duke was watching Michael rip him to pieces about giving Sonny an false alibi for AJ's murder. After AJ was the person to give Duke a job (and a pretty good one at that) after his return.

Poor Liz. It is like this show hates her. AJ screwed up. And died. Ric returned. Ric "died". Then came back again. And he reverted back to horrible choice making, insecure Ric. "Jake" is Jason. And Nik is Nik. Staying with Brit and now making deals with his Grandmother and sleeping with Hayden on the side. Her life is sooooo screwed. This crap with Jason/Jake and the whole Cassadine back from the dead! Jason being alive is ok. But at the very least she should get is an alive little Jake. Which could be a reason why Jason was following Cassadine orders.

I really miss "Cake". Liz's life is getting blown up again. The least this damn show can do is to give her back her beloved son.

God, I feel sorry Becky having her character thrown under the bus like that again. I hope she at least gets an Emmy nom out of this nonsense because she was turning shit into gold today.

ABC/General Hospital had a few past characters up for a vote a few months ago. Who ever got the most votes would return for the Nurses Ball. I remember Ron Hale (Mike, Sonny's father) was one of the other people in the poll. I want to say Stefan also? It was months ago.

Spencer does need his butt smacked in a big way, but Emma - bless her - said it perfectly when she said "You're not listening!" when Spencer was blah blah blahing about being so horribly disfigured.

I believe it was Stefan, Mike, and Serena Baldwin. I'll have to find it again but Nathan Varni from ABC actually tweeted the results of the poll because people weren't believing that Courtney won over Stefan. It was like 42% Courtney and 30% Stefan.

I believe it. After all, hordes of fans still think Sonny is the best and most important part of this show. And clearly Courtney was popular enough at some point to have some sort of fanbase considering she was one of a quartet of show-eaters for years.

It takes all kinds, I guess.

Sigh.

Stephen Nichols said he'd never heard about this poll, pretty much confirming the entire thing was fake and tptb just wanted to bring back Courtney to stoke their Spencer obsession. Cartini no doubt think they're God's gift and believe everyone is dying to work with them, but Abc would look really stupid if they ran an actual contest without checking for interest/availability, only to be rejected by the legit "winner."

Liz is sooooo going to pay. The Snarly screeching alone will drive me deaf.

I'm so looking forward to the live episodes, y'all! And if the wedding takes place then? Yay!

The only thing better is if they went ON LOCATION while they did this.

Hulu for some reason has *500* GH clips. And some of them are 'Throwback Thursday' clips where they're organized into things like: Best Weddings, Best Kisses, Best Action.. and so many of the best things on GH happened on location.

BTW, I forgot how hot Felicia used to be back in the day. Damn, the way she looked at Frisco?

Yes, Liz should get baby Jake back (well, he would be eight years old now), but she needs her second son back home where he belongs.

Nik is a tool. A big old tool and I keep wishing RC would stop trying to sell Niz as some freaking love story, when it was done to trash Liz and Nik's old friendship, and to fire BH>
