Daytime Emmy Pre-Nominations Are Out and Hoo Boy is the list...
....well, here.
These feel so insignificant these days with so few actors, so until the actual nominations there are hardly any major shocks. (Though it's funny to me that some of the Younger performer pre-noms are kids I've seen all of one time at most, but other the other hand I think that category is usually almost everyone who submitted.)
I do enjoy thinking about the actors' strategies for whether they should submit as Lead or Supporting because some of these are interesting to say the least.

Oh, dear. The Jersey Shore bot is back.
My major emotion as I read the lists is . . . puzzlement, maybe? I can't really argue with the nominations on a merit basis, but shouldn't there be a requirement that a performer has been (back) on his/her show for a minimum time period during the year in order to qualify? Chandler Massey? Steve Burton? Admittedly, they've both been involved in major storylines and had the opportunity to give top-notch performances because they've been front and center, but . . . really? As I said, puzzlement.
And then of course, even without casting aspersions on anybody's ability/performance, one can play the "But why A over B?" game, as always. I've grown to like Kelly Monaco immensely over the last few years, but a prenom for her over Finola Hughes? GH gets only one prenom in Supporting Actress and it's . . . Lisa LoCicero--whom I've always adored, back to her days on Loving/The City, but still? Happy happy happy for her, but . . . well, hmmmmm. Over, say, Rebecca Herbst? As I said: hmmmmm. Or Kirsten Storms or Emme Ryland? Hmmmm. Hmmmm. More puzzlement.
Kudos to Eileen Davidson for getting prenommed in both Lead and Supporting. If she makes it to the actual nominations, that might be a first in Daytime Emmy history. Or maybe I just don't remember. (I go back a long way with the Daytime Emmys. It's easy to forget, especially when some of it has been so forgettable.)
So no Emmy pre-love for Genie Francis. Bummer. God I hope some show snatches her up.
Who gets offered up for prenomination is based on actors' votes from each show, right? So I guess that's a fairly major smackdown that the cast of Y&R just put on TPTB with the prenom for Greg Rikaart. Love it.
How on earth did I miss that Susan (Seaforth) Hayes had been on Days this past year significantly enough to have reels she could use for a prenom/nom? Bad on me. Would love it if she made it to the nomination stage; that would be a nice bit of sentimentality I could live with.
Would it be unseemly of me to mention how pleased I am at the ABSENCE of several high-profile usual suspects from the Lead Actor list? I guess I will not name names, since you all KNOW who I am talking about.
