2018 Daytime Emmy Nominations
They're here, they're here! And there are actually a couple of surprises and cool things in addition to the frustrating absences.
It's sweet that the tech and design awards mostly just included all four shows, but that means the ones that didn't stand out even more. Poor Days of Our Lives costume designers! Guess they don't think much of The Bold & the Beautiful casting!
Anyway, I included all the digital soaps here, too, because (a) I'm personally invested in some of them and (b) they have a lot of crossover with the network daytime talent. For instance, hey, if you wanted Chad Duell to get a nomination for General Hospital, you'll be bummed but then a little glad to know he still got a nomination elsewhere.
Shall we? (Sorry the formatting's a mess, I'll clean it up when I have a little time but just wanted to get this out there!)

My immediate response is being really psyched for Anthony Montgomery, James Reynolds, Chandler Massey, and everything Eastsiders (Van Hansis!!!). I'm sure once I've had more time to ruminate, I'll start getting angry about who's missing but for the moment I'll be happy for who's there.
What do you guys think?
Who does watch the digital shows? I've seen all of Venice and Eastsiders (I like both, but the supernatural stuff in Venice dampens it for me), and a few episodes of The Bay. Just curious.

Wow. I need to watch some digital shows now!
I can’t believe that Dr. Sexual Chocolate (aka Andre) was nominated! Go Anthony Montgomery!

Sexual chocolate, hee! I bet he submitted a reel from that brief stretch right after he went DARKANDRE. He was so good in those episodes and finally got a chance to show his chops. I was surprised by the nomination since he's more recurring than supporting but it's awesome.

I've watched all of Venice except the last season (which I'm saving for when I've been very, very good and deserve a reward), as well as Fumbling Thru the Pieces (OK, I admit it: I'd watch Hillary Bailey Smith read the phone book--if she's in it, I'm so there). Anacostia is on my to-do list. I saw one episode of Eastsiders and really, actively hated it (much as I love Van Hansis), but I might give it one more try (because of Mr. Hansis).
I have the sense that there's a bunch of good stuff out there in the world of digital soaps that I'm not even aware of.

I think KKL not getting a nod sucks, and I think the actress playing Steffy on B&B sucks as well, she cannot act.

I wish that they had really given Andre and Anna a chance, it would have made the fall-out from the revelation that he was responsible for the memory-mapping that much more powerful. And I'm still waiting for them to tell us how Helena ended up with Drew on the island with Jake.

Arianne Zucker got shafted! She is so consistently good, how could they ignore her for someone like Jacqueline Macinnes Wood?! Boooooo!

OK, I just watched that soapy January B&B episode with the Steffy/Bill cheating goodness, and now I feel bad for dissing Jacqueline MacInnes Wood. She did a great job of those scenes with Heather Tom. So I still think Arianne Zucker was screwed, but maybe JMW deserved the nom too.
